Suburban blocks, tight access

Plenty of Ellenbrook yards were planted when the estates were new, and those trees are now big enough to be over the roof, the patio or the neighbour’s fence. Blocks are smaller and access is usually a side gate, so branches often get carried out to the chipper on the street.

The Vines and the edges of Ellenbrook back onto bushland reserves. Trees in the reserves belong to the City, but branches from your own trees are yours to deal with.

Questions from Ellenbrook

Can you get a chipper into a suburban backyard?
Usually it stays on the street or the driveway and we bring the branches out to it. Tell us how wide the side gate is and what we’ll need to carry past.
My neighbour’s tree hangs over my fence. Can you cut it back?
In WA you can generally cut back branches that overhang your side of the boundary, as long as you don’t harm the tree. Talk to your neighbour first. It’s courteous, and it avoids disputes.
